We still don’t know whether Samsung wants to announce the Galaxy Tab S8 slates at the upcoming MWC or alongside the S22 series. But preparations for the launch have been going for so long that all the salient details have leaked out at this point, here they are as summarized by WinFuture.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra will be larger than most tablets with a huge 14.6” Super AMOLED display. It will have a notch to house the dual 12 MP cameras (wide and ultra wide), while keeping the bezels around the display quite thin. Anyway, the display will have 2,960 x 1,848 px resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate and maximum brightness of 420 nits.
The Galaxy Tab S8+ will be merely large, not huge, with a 12.7” display. No notch here. The Super AMOLED panel will also run at 120 Hz and will have a resolution of 2,800 x 1,752 px. The displays on all three models will support S Pen input and will enjoy the protection of Gorilla Glass 5.
The smallest of the three, the Galaxy Tab S8, will still be fairly big with an 11” display – an LTPS LCD this time around. Like its siblings (and like the Tab S7 before it), it too will offer 120 Hz refresh rate. The LCD panel will even be a bit brighter at 500 nits.
All three Tab S8 models will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset running Android 12 with Samsung UI 4.1 on top. The standard configuration will have 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, with the S8 and S8+ getting a 256 GB storage option while the top configuration for the Ultra will be 16/512 GB. All three will have a microSD slot.
The USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 port on the tablets will support DeX, Wireless DeX will be available as well. Other connectivity features include optional 5G, Wi-Fi 6 (ax), Bluetooth 5.2, ANT+ and positioning systems (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and Beidou).
The USB-C port will be used for charging as well. The Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra will have the biggest battery and be the heaviest too at 11,200 mAh and 728g. The S8+ will have a 10,090 mAh battery and will weigh 567g, while the S8 will get an 8,000 mAh battery and will tip the scales at 507g.
All three tablets will have quad speakers (with Dolby Atmos), under display fingerprint readers and dual cameras on the rear (13 MP main and 6 MP ultra wide). There will be a couple of magnetic attachment points for the S Pen stylus.
You can check out detailed pricing info that leaked a couple of days ago. In short, the Galaxy Tab S8 will start at QAR 2900, the S8+ will be QAR 3700 and the Tab S8 Ultra will sell for QAR 4320 at least. This is for the Wi-Fi only tablets with the base storage. Getting 5G will cost QAR 600 on top of that.
